PORTER, DIRECTOR Tel (808) 241-4460 Fax (808) 241-5126 Tree trimming work in Kapa`a scheduled for Dec. 12 KAPA`A — The Department of Parks and Recreation will be conducting tree trimming work in the vicinity of mile -marker 6 near Kuhi6 Highway in Kapa`a on Dec. 12. "Unfortunately, we are experiencing heavy erosion on our East Shore caused by high tides and surf, which has caused some of these trees to fall. Fortunately they have fallen onto the beach and not towards the highway," said Director of Parks and Recreation Director Patrick Porter. "We are proactively working to ensure the safety of everyone using the highway and coastal path." To provide additional safety measures for the public, the Hawaii Department of Transportation will close the outer northbound lane of Kuhio Highway, in the vicinity of Kuamo`o Road and Papaloa Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Two-way traffic will be maintained. Flaggers will be positioned to assist motorists during this closure. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes during the road closure and allow additional time to get to destinations in the area.
