National Weather Service issues High Wind Warning starting at 6 p.m. tonight
The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Kauai and Niihau
effective 6 p.m. Friday through 6 p.m. Saturday.
A High Wind Warning means that winds are expected to be at least 40 MPH with gusts
over 60 MPH which could lead to property damage.
Residents are advised to secure loose objects outdoors and avoid outdoor activity with
exposure to high winds.
The public is also advised to be prepared for power outages as strong winds could result
in fallen trees and downed power lines. Storm preparedness tips from the Kauai Island Utility
Cooperative can be found on its website: www.kiuc.coop under the "community" tab.
