DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF News Release For Immediate Release: December 20, 2019 KAUA`I EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY ELTON USHIO, ADMINISTRATOR Tel (808) 241-1800 Fax (808) 241-1860 **UPDATE: The High Wind Warning is now in effect, as of 3:28 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.** Update: National Weather Service issues High Wind Warning The High Wind Warning for Kauai and Niihau is now in effect as of 3:28 p.m. Friday through 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. A High Wind Warning means that winds are expected to be at least 40 MPH with gusts over 60 MPH which could lead to property damage. Residents are advised to secure loose objects outdoors and avoid outdoor activity with exposure to high winds. The public is also advised to be prepared for power outages as strong winds could result in fallen trees and downed power lines.
