DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF News Release For Immediate Release: December 25, 2019 KAUA`I EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY ELTON USHIO, ADMINISTRATOR Tel (808) 241-1800 Fax (808) 241-1860 1 P.M., UPDATE: Flash Flood Warning cancelled on Kauai; Kuhio Highway near Hanalei Bridge remains closed The Flash Flood Warning for Kauai has been cancelled, according to the National Weather Service. However, Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of the Hanalei Bridge remains closed until further notice due to flooding. Motorists are advised that Kuhio Highway could remain closed for an extended period of time due to a significant amount of water that currently remains on the road. Officials will continue to monitor the water level and will reopen the highway as soon as it is safe for travel. All other major roads have reopened. However, crews continue to address various areas of fallen debris and utility lines. Motorists are advised to drive with caution, and to report any new road closures to Police Dispatch at 241-1711. For updates on current road conditions and closures, please call 241- 1725. Please do not call Kauai police 911 unless you have an emergency. Ocean Safety officials continue to advise no swimming islandwide due to a brown water advisory. Beachgoers are urged to heed all posted warnings and advisories.
