Police recover body from beach in Wailua
WAILUA – Kaua‘i police recovered the body of a man found dead Monday night along
the shoreline of a beach in Wailua, commonly referred to as Kitchens.
Police do not suspect foul play in the cause of his death.
The man, age 41, has been preliminarily identified as someone with no permanent
address.
According to witness reports, the man was last seen in the water Monday afternoon. His
body was later discovered by a passerby, approximately 100 yards south of the Kamalani
Bridge entrance to the beach area. He was transported to Wilcox Medical Center where a
medical doctor formally pronounced him dead.
The man’s name is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Additionally, authorities confirm the man recently traveled and has been on Kaua‘i since
Oct. 17. He was not under quarantine because he tested negative prior to traveling to Kaua‘i,
per the state’s Pre-Travel Testing Program.
An autopsy is being scheduled to determine the cause of his death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
