Water service shutdown reminder for customers on Hanapepe Road
HANAPEPE – The Department of Water (DOW) reminds customers of the water service shutdown scheduled
on a portion of Hanapepe Road; between Ko Road and Hana Road, and also includes approximately 4
customers on Kona Road in Hanapepe. Water service is scheduled to be turned off tomorrow, Tuesday,
September 29, 2020 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting.
The 8-hour water service shutdown is necessary in order to connect the new 6-inch main line to the existing
12-inch main line on Hanapepe Road and relocate 2 service meters as part of the Hanapepe-Ele’ele Water
Systems Improvements Project.
Additionally, a partial road closure is also scheduled on Hanapepe Road near the intersection of Kona Road
and Hanapepe Road in Hanapepe town. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and adhere to traffic
control in the area.
Customers are advised to prepare for the water service shutdown by taking the following steps:
Store enough water to meet your needs until water service can be restored.
Notify family, friends and neighbors of the scheduled shutdown.
Those with faulty water heaters should ensure that water heaters do not empty during the
shutdown.
Businesses should plan accordingly before and during a water service shutdown.
A trailer-mounted water tank containing potable water will be located near the intersection of Kona Road
and Koula Road. Customers must bring their own containers to fill-up if needed.
