Water service shutdown reminder for Wainiha customers on October 12
Intermittent traffic stoppage on Wainiha Bridge
WAINIHA – The Department of Water (DOW) reminds customers of a water service shutdown
scheduled on a portion of Kuhio Highway; from Powerhouse Road to Ananalu Road,
Powerhouse Road, Ala Eke Road, a portion of Ananalu Road; from the intersection with Kuhio
Highway, to and including Anahulu Road in Wainiha. Water service is scheduled to be turned
off on Monday, October 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting. The 4-hour shutdown is
necessary in order to conduct repairs to a distribution line on the Haena side of the Wainiha
Bridge on Kuhio Highway.
Additionally, traffic on the Wainiha Bridge will be stopped intermittently to allow equipment to
move safely through the area. Traffic control personnel will be on scene to help direct traffic.
Motorists are advised to adhere to traffic control measures and to drive with caution near and
around the work site. Please allow extra travel time to reach your destination.
Customers located in the affected area are advised to prepare for the service shutdown by taking
the following steps:
Store enough water to meet your needs during the shutdown.
Notify family, friends, tenants and neighbors that may be affected by the service shutdown.
Those with faulty water heaters should ensure that water heaters do not empty during the
shutdown.
Businesses should plan appropriately prior to and during a service shutdown.
