DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: October 5, 2020 KAUA‘I FIRE DEPARTMENT STEVEN R, GOBLE, CHIEF Tel (808) 241-4980 Fax (808) 241-6508 Fire displaces one in Kapa‘a KAPA‘A – A fire in Kapa‘a displaced one resident early Monday morning. No Injuries were reported. However, volunteers with the America Red Cross assisted the displaced individual. Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire to a one-story dwelling in Kapa‘a on Wailua Road at approximately 12:55 a.m. on Monday. Personnel from the Kapa‘a, Kaiakea, and Līhu‘e fire stations; the Fire Prevention Bureau; the on-duty Battalion Chief; Kaua‘i Police Department; American Medical Response; Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative; and the American Red Cross responded to the incident. According to a preliminary report, upon arrival, fire personnel discovered smoke exiting the windows of the building. The occupant of the one-story dwelling was home at the time of arrival. The origin of the fire is believed to be in the kitchen area. Fire personnel established a water supply via a fire hydrant and proceeded to extinguish the fire. Firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 2:20 a.m. Damages are estimated at $75,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. ###
