DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: November 13, 2020 DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TROY TANIGAWA, ACTING COUNTY ENGINEER Tel (808) 241-4993 Fax (808) 241-6604 Entrance to Līhu‘e Kaua‘i Recycles Drop bins modified due to construction; County celebrates America Recycles Day on Nov. 15 Due to construction of the new Target store in Līhu‘e, the entrance and exit to the Kaua‘i Recycles drop bins have been modified. There are currently two access points to the bins: one entrance is located near Kalepa Street near the old Sports Authority location and the other is the southern entrance near Pikake Street, closest to the bins. You cannot enter the area from the northern parking lot at this time. With these changes, the County’s Solid Waste Division would like to take the opportunity to highlight Sunday, Nov. 15, as America Recycles Day. There are many things that can and cannot be recycled on Kaua‘i. Residents can dispose of their vehicles for free, and everyone including businesses can recycle their electronic waste at no cost. Additionally, only #1 and #2 bottles and jars are accepted in our residential plastic drop bins, or that lead acid batteries are accepted at most automotive stores, but not at our Kaua‘i Resource Center. All this info and more can be found at www.kauai.gov/recycling or by calling 241-4841. We encourage everyone to do their part and find out how to properly Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle here on our Garden Island. ###
