DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: November 24, 2020 OFFICE OF THE MAYOR SARAH K. BLANE, CHIEF OF STAFF Tel (808) 241-4900 Fax (808) 241-6877 Kaua‘i Department of Health reports two new cases of COVID-19, both related to travel LĪHU‘E —The Kaua‘i District Health Office on Tuesday reported two new travel-related cases of COVID-19 on Kaua‘i. One case is an adult male visitor who received a positive result on his pre-travel test after he arrived on Kaua‘i. The other case is an adult male resident with a recent travel history. The cases are being isolated and close contacts identified, directed to quarantine, and offered testing. The investigations are ongoing. Kaua‘i has seen a significant rise in case levels since the pre-travel testing program began in mid-October. Most cases have been travel-related, but a number of cases in the past couple weeks have come from community spread. The island currently has 23 confirmed active cases, all in isolation. There are now 92 individuals in health department-directed quarantine, which may increase as investigations continue. Kaua‘i now has a cumulative case count of 119, of which 104 are confirmed locally, one is a probable case, and 14 are positive cases that were diagnosed elsewhere—with tests taken on the mainland whose positive results did not arrive until they were on island.
