GOBLE, CHIEF (808) 241-4980 Firefighters extinguish structure fire in Po‘ipū early Friday morning PO‘IPŪ – Firefighters responded to a structure fire that broke out early Friday morning on Pe‘e Road in Po‘ipū. No injuries were reported. Kōloa firefighters were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:15 a.m. Friday, where they found a 20-square-foot shed and two vehicles on fire. Firefighters were able to quickly gain control of the fire and extinguish the blaze. Firefighters from the Kalāheo and Līhu‘e fire stations also responded to the scene, along with the on-duty battalion chief. Fire inspectors estimate the damage to the structure, vehicles, and its contents to be approximately $45,000. There was also fire damage reported to the main residence. A preliminary investigation reveals the fire was apparently caused by firework activity. The investigation remains ongoing.
