Planning Department announces the launch of the Waimea 400 Master Plan website
and survey
LĪHU‘E – The County of Kaua‘i Planning Department has launched a website for the Waimea 400
Master Plan and encourages the public to take the online survey in anticipation of the community
planning process which will begin during the Spring of this year.
The Waimea 400 Master Plan refers to the 417-acre parcel on the mauka side of Kaumuali‘i
Highway, between Waimea and Kekaha, which the County of Kaua‘i purchased in 2018.
In anticipation of this master plan process, the county has launched a project website and
survey at www.waimea400.com. Community members, especially those who live and work in the West
Kauaʻi region, are encouraged to participate in the online survey to indicate their preferences for park
and recreational amenities and housing.
Comments can also be dropped off at businesses around West Kaua’i, including: Waimea Big
Save, Umi’s Store, Da No Booze Shop, Ishihara Market, Waimea Subway, Kekaha Thrifty Mini Mart, Salt
Pond Country Store, and ʻEleʻele Big Save.
The Waimea 400 Master Plan process is being facilitated by PBR Hawai‘i and the county Planning
Department. Community meetings are expected to start at the beginning of March, offering both virtual
and in-person platforms to participate in the site design process. More information on these meetings
will be announced at a later date.
