Lane closures for sections of Kōloa Road and Maluhia Road scheduled from Jan. 11 to
Jan. 15
KŌLOA – The Department of Public Works and Goodfellow Bros. LLC., are announcing that
sections of Kōloa Road and Maluhia Road are scheduled for lane closures from Jan. 11 to Jan. 15.
Kōloa Road, from Piko Road to Kaumuali‘i Highway, will be under a single-lane closure for
shoulder construction and pavement work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Westbound traffic on Kōloa Road will
be detoured through Piko Road. Only eastbound traffic will be allowed on Kōloa Road, between Piko
Road to Kaumuali‘i Highway. Also, Kōloa Road, from Po‘ipū Road and Ala Kalanikaumaka, will have a
single-lane closure for fire hydrant installation.
In addition, striping work is scheduled on Maluhia Road under a single-lane closure from 7 a.m.
to 5 p.m.
One lane of alternating traffic will be maintained during these closures, and flaggers will be
positioned to assist motorists. Traffic delays may occur during these closures, so please plan ahead.
Motorists are advised to follow all traffic control signs and personnel.
Dates and times are subject to change depending on weather and other factors.
Given the intensity of the work on Kōloa Road, eastbound motorists from the West Side,
Kalāheo, or Lāwa‘i are recommended to take Kaumuali‘i Highway to Maluhia Road to access Kōloa and
Po‘ipū.
As a reminder, Ōma‘o Road is a narrow residential road that is not intended to be used as a
detour route and not designed for high volumes of traffic or truck traffic. The speed limit is 25 mph for
the entire length of Ōma‘o Road. Through trucks are prohibited on Ōma‘o Road for the duration of this
project.
