DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: January 4, 2021 COUNTY OF KAUA‘I KAUA‘I EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY ELTON USHIO, ADMINISTRATOR (808) 241-1800 Kaua‘i County Updating Multi-Hazard Mitigation & Resilience Plan; Available for Public Review LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency (KEMA) invites residents of Kaua‘i County to review and comment on the public draft of the Kaua‘i Multi-Hazard Mitigation & Resilience Plan. In May of 2020, KEMA embarked on a planning process to prepare for and lessen the impacts of specified natural hazards by updating the Kaua‘i Multi-Hazard Mitigation & Resilience Plan. Responding to federal mandates in the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (Public Law 106-390), KEMA began to pool resources to create a uniform hazard mitigation strategy that can be consistently applied to the defined planning area and used to ensure eligibility for specified grant funding success. The 30-day public review period of the Draft Plan begins on January 4, 2021 and ends on February 2, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. You can access a copy of the Draft Plan at: http://kauai.gov/Mitigation and clicking on the 2020 Update.
