Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office announces one new
case of COVID-19 on Jan. 4
LĪHU‘E – The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported one new
case of COVID-19 on Monday, Jan. 4.
Today’s case is a child resident whose source of infection is travel related. Test results were
obtained after returning to Kaua‘i. All active cases are in isolation, and one case remains hospitalized on
O‘ahu. Close contacts are being identified, directed to quarantine, and offered testing.
Today’s case bring the number of active cases to 10, with 177 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s
cumulative case count includes 150 confirmed locally, one probable, and 26 positive cases diagnosed
elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.
