BLANE, CHIEF OF STAFF (808) 241-4900 Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office announces three new cases of COVID-19 on Jan. 5 LĪHU‘E – The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported three new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, Jan. 5. Two of today’s cases are an adult resident and a child resident whose source of infection is community-acquired. The other case is a visitor whose source of infection is travel related. All active cases are in isolation, and one case remains hospitalized on O‘ahu. Close contacts are being identified, directed to quarantine, and offered testing. Today’s case brings the number of active cases to 13, with 180 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 153 confirmed locally, one probable, and 26 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.
