Construction work scheduled for Uhelekawawa Canal Bridge in Kapa‘a Jan. 11 to July
23
KAPA‘A – The Department of Public Works is announcing that construction work on
Uhelekawawa Canal Bridge in Kapa‘a is scheduled from Jan. 11 to July 23, weather permitting.
Work is scheduled on weekdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The scope of work includes various bridge repairs and upgrades, resurfacing and pavement
work, vegetation removal, and erosion and traffic control.
Starting Monday, Jan. 11, crews will begin erosion control measures. Lane closures are expected
to start on Jan. 26. One lane of Kūhiō Highway near Waipouli Beach Resort will be closed during
construction and may cause delays. Please allow additional travel time in anticipation of these delays.
Residents should expect some noise associated with construction activities. On-street parking
will be prohibited during hours of construction work. Illegally parked vehicles may be towed, if
necessary, at the owner's expense. Motorists shall use caution and observe and obey all traffic controls
and posted signs.
