Emergency water service shutdown and lane closure
on Kuhio Highway in Kapa’a
KAPA’A - The Department of Water (DOW) announces an emergency water service shutdown on Kuhio Highway;
between the north intersection of Aleka Loop and Kuhio Highway, to the Waipouli Bridge and includes Pouli
Road and Kamoa Road in Kapa’a. Water service will be turned off for approximately 3 to 4 hours, beginning at
12 p.m. today, due to a recent main line break in the area.
Additionally, a partial lane closure on the southbound lane of Kuhio Highway; between Aleka Loop and the
Waipouli Bridge will be in place beginning at 11:30 a.m. in order to create a safe work zone and conduct repairs
to the water main line. Southbound motorists will be directed to merge onto a single lane to continue traffic
flow in the area.
The affected water service area includes customers located along Kuhio highway; between the northern
intersection of Aleka Loop to the Waipouli Bridge, Pouli Road, Kamoa Road and includes the Waipouli Town
Center. Customers are advised to prepare for the shutdown by taking the following steps:
Store enough water to meet your needs until water service can be restored.
Notify neighbors, tenants, family and friends of the shutdown.
Those with faulty water heaters should ensure their water heaters do not empty.
Businesses should prepare accordingly for the water service shutdown.
