DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: February 24, 2021 COUNTY OF KAUA‘I HOUSING AGENCY ADAM ROVERSI, DIRECTOR (808) 241-4444 County seeks proposals from non-profits to administer $22 million Coronavirus Rental and Utility Assistance Program LĪHU‘E – The County of Kaua‘i is currently seeking a non-profit partner to administer a new program of federal Coronavirus-related rental and utility assistance, which will appropriate a total of $22 million to eligible Kaua‘i households. Any interested non-profit organization may view the county’s Request for Proposals at https://kauaiforward.com/crua/. Applications for the Coronavirus Rental and Utility Assistance Program will open to residents after a non-profit administrator has been selected. More details on the application process will be announced at a later date. The Coronavirus Rental and Utility Assistance Program is intended to provide financial assistance to eligible households, including the payment of rent, rental arrears, utilities and home energy costs, utilities and home energy costs arrears, and other expenses related to housing incurred due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This program is intended to provide emergency assistance for both past due amounts and future payments, not to exceed 12 months of total payments. To be eligible for assistance, an applicant must have earned less than 80% of the Kaua‘i Median Area Income (KMAI) in the 2020 tax year, or at the time of application for assistance, and be able to document they have experienced a reduction in income or other financial hardship as a result of COVID- 19.
