DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: March 19, 2021 COUNTY OF KAUA‘I DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TROY TANIGAWA, ACTING COUNTY ENGINEER (808) 241-4993 Road, lane closures for multiple sections of Kōloa Road scheduled March 22 to March 25; portion of Ōma‘o Road to be closed March 23 KŌLOA – The Department of Public Works and Goodfellow Bros. LLC., are announcing that multiple sections of Kōloa Road and Maluhia Road are scheduled for lane closures from March 22 to March 25. On Tuesday, March 23, Ōma‘o Road will be closed to traffic on from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for intersection paving. All Omao Road traffic will need to exit and enter the area at Kaumuali‘i Hwy. Multiple sections of Kōloa Road will be under a single-lane closure for shoulder construction and pavement work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastbound motorists from the West Side, Kalāheo, or Lāwa‘i are recommended to take Kaumuali‘i Highway to Maluhia Road to access Kōloa and Po‘ipū. No work will occur on March 26 due to observance of Prince Kūhiō Day. As a reminder, Ōma‘o Road is a narrow residential road that is not intended to be used as a detour route and not designed for high volumes of traffic or truck traffic. The speed limit is 25 mph for the entire length of Ōma‘o Road. Through trucks are prohibited on Ōma‘o Road for the duration of this project.
