Coordinated outreach services being offered to homeless community as beach parks
transition out of Shelter in Place program
LĪHU‘E – Over the next few months, in addition to the daily outreach efforts of various non-
profits, the Kaua‘i County Housing Agency will be coordinating homeless outreach events across the
island.
The county’s outreach events are scheduled as follows:
• ‘Anini Beach Park: Monday, March 8, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.;
• Lucy Wright Beach Park: Thursday, April 8, 10 am to 12:30 p.m.;
• Lydgate Beach Park: Tuesday, May 4, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and
• Salt Pond Beach Park: Thursday, June 3, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
These outreach events will be focused on housing, social service programs and medical services
only. These events are not intended to accept donated items which individuals will need to move with
them when the Shelter in Place program discontinues.
Additionally, some service providers will begin their outreach efforts around 7:30 a.m. on the
event days mentioned above.
Approximately 10 non-profit agencies will participate in the outreach events, including Catholic
Charities Hawai‘i, Child and Family Services, Department of Education, the county’s Agency on Elderly
Affairs, Ho‘ola Lahui, Kaua‘i Economic Opportunity, Malama Pono Health Services, Project Vision, U.S.
Vets, and Women In Need. These agencies will offer various services including application assistance,
housing referral services, medical services, vision screening, resource cards, veteran services,
educational resources, and signups for housing vouchers and bus pass programs.
Officials will be wearing face coverings and physical distancing measures will be observed.
Officials are also asking participants to wear face coverings over their noses and mouths.

adequate time to fulfill your request. Upon request, this notice is available in alternate formats such as
