DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: March 23, 2021 COUNTY OF KAUA‘I DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TROY TANIGAWA, ACTING COUNTY ENGINEER (808) 241-4993 Blessing held Friday for Solid Waste Division equipment LĪHU‘E – On Friday, March 19, the Department of Public Works held a blessing at Vidinha Stadium in Līhu‘e for a dozen new trucks for the Solid Waste Division. The blessing was attended by solid waste workers from across the island, Public Works admin staff, and Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami. “As we continue to invest in our hardworking men and women of the Solid Waste Division, we need to remind ourselves that we are stewards of this new equipment,” said Mayor Kawakami. “These tools belong to the people of Kaua‘i, and we will use them for the benefit of our community.” In addition to the current equipment in stock that is used to service the facilities and functions of the Solid Waste Division, this new equipment includes eight tractor trucks for all the refuse stations on the island; two automated refuse trucks and a hooklift truck for the Kapa‘a baseyard; and a pickup truck for the Kekahal Landfill. ###
