BLANE, CHIEF OF STAFF (808) 241-4900 Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office announces 1 new case of COVID-19 on April 17 LĪHU‘E – The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported one new case of COVID-19 on Saturday, April 17. Saturday’s case is an adult male visitor who was tested on Kaua‘i but left the island before his test results were received. He will not be considered an active case on Kaua‘i since his isolation will be monitored by his state of residency. The source of his infection is under investigation. All close contacts identified by the investigation were fully vaccinated and, therefore, are not subject to quarantine but have been instructed to self-monitor for symptoms. Saturday’s case brings the number of active cases to one, with 235 cumulative cases. The one active case remains hospitalized. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 200 confirmed locally, two probable, and 33 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.
