DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: April 30, 2021 COUNTY OF KAUA‘I OFFICE OF THE MAYOR SARAH K. BLANE, CHIEF OF STAFF (808) 241-4900 Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office announces 16 new cases of COVID-19 on April 30 LĪHU‘E – The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, April 30. All 16 of the cases are Kaua‘i residents: four are children and 12 are adults. Two of the cases are related to mainland travel. The remaining 14 cases are considered community-acquired. All active cases are in isolation and close contacts are being identified, directed to quarantine, and offered testing. “Testing has always been an important tool in our toolbox to help us identify cases and keep our island safe,” said Dr. Janet Berreman, Kaua‘i District Health Officer. “There has been a dramatic increase in testing recently, and this is helping us detect and respond promptly to the rapid rise in cases. If you are symptomatic or were identified as a close contact of someone who tested positive for COVID-19, please arrange testing through your Primary Care Physician, a hospital, or an urgent care clinic.” Vaccination is free and widely available on the island, including on weekends and evenings. For details, visit www.kauai.gov/vaccine. Those who plan to travel can protect themselves and their families by being fully vaccinated before traveling. Friday’s cases bring the number of active cases to 55, with 299 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 262 confirmed locally, two probable, and 35 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.
