GOBLE, CHIEF (808) 241-4980 Salt Pond Beach closed to swimming due to shark sighting HANAPĒPĒ – Ocean Safety Bureau officials have closed Salt Pond Beach Beach in Hanapēpē to swimming until further notice due to a shark sighting. OSB officials report that a possible 8-to-10 foot shark was sighted by the east end of the beach. As a safety precaution, Ocean Safety officials advise no swimming until further notice, and signs have been posted to warn beachgoers of the shark sighting. Lifeguards will reassess the area on Friday to determine if the beach can be reopened. Updates will be provided when more information becomes available. For updates, please speak to a county lifeguard or call the Ocean Safety Bureau at 241- 4984. ###
