Finance Department reminds customers of DMV procedures
LĪHU‘E – The Department of Finance would like to remind customers of the current procedures
when visiting the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Officials continue to prioritize the health and safety of all visitors and associates of the DMV.
Therefore, masks are required for entry and service and social distancing guidelines will continue to be
enforced.
All services provided through the Motor Vehicle and Drivers Licensing divisions are by
appointment only. There are no walk-in services available. To book an appointment, please visit
www.kauai.gov and click “Get In Line Online.” Road test appointments must be made by calling 241-
4242.
Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for state and
federal holidays. Customers may check in for a scheduled appointment up to 15 minutes prior to their
appointment time. If you are more than 5 minutes late, the appointment will be canceled and you will
have to rebook the appointment.
There remain other alternatives to pay vehicle registrations and officials highly encourage the
public to use one of these services:
• Visit one of the four DMV kiosk locations: Princeville Foodland, Kapa‘a Safeway, Līhu‘e
Safeway, or Ishihara Market in Waimea;
• Register online at https://mvr.ehawaii.gov/renewals/kauai;
• Mail registrations to: The County of Kaua‘i, Department of Finance, 4444 Rice Street Suite
#466, Līhu‘e, HI 96766; or
• Drop off your registration at the drop box located outside the Kapule Building.
Kupuna Hour is still available for those 65 years or older from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., Monday
through Friday. No appointments are necessary for Kupuna Hour.
