DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: June 17, 2021 COUNTY OF KAUA‘I DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TROY TANIGAWA, ACTING COUNTY ENGINEER (808) 241-4993 Lane closures for multiple sections of Kōloa Road and Maluhia Road scheduled from June 21 to June 25 KŌLOA – The Department of Public Works and Goodfellow Bros. LLC., are announcing that multiple sections of Kōloa Road and Maluhia Road are scheduled for lane closures from June 21 to June 25. Multiple sections of Kōloa Road and Maluhia Road will be under short lane closures for inspection and punch list completion work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Expect brief occasional delays at the Kōloa Road-Ala Kalanikaumaka intersection for the continued construction and paving of the North side of the Roundabout. Additionally, from June 21 to June 22, Kōloa Road will be under full closure from Po‘ipū Road to Ala Kalanikaumaka. The hours of operation for the full closure will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists will be detoured to Lopaka Paipa Blvd. during this closure. As a reminder, Ōma‘o Road is a narrow residential road that is not intended to be used as a detour route and not designed for high volumes of traffic or truck traffic. The speed limit is 25 mph for the entire length of Ōma‘o Road. Through trucks are prohibited on Ōma‘o Road for the duration of this project. Eastbound motorists from the West Side, Kalāheo, or Lāwa‘i are recommended to take Kaumuali‘i Highway to Maluhia Road to access Kōloa and Po‘ipū. Construction of the Koloa Road Roundabout is currently projected to be complete by July 23, 2021. The current projected project final completion date is August 27, 2021.
