DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: June 8, 2021 COUNTY OF KAUA‘I DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE REIKO MATSUYAMA, DIRECTOR (808) 241-4200 Expirations for driver’s licenses, learner’s permits, and state IDs extended an extra 60 days LĪHU‘E – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 emergency response, Gov. David Ige’s 21st proclamation has extended the validity of all driver’s licenses, learner’s permits and state identification cards for 60 days beyond their expiration date. Those credentials with expiration dates between March 16, 2020, and June 8, 2021, have been extended until August 6, 2021. “It is anticipated that this will be the last extension granted via emergency proclamations,” said Finance Director Reiko Matsuyama. “If you have an expired driver’s license, learner’s permit or state ID, you should make advanced preparations to renew prior to Aug. 6. After that date, late penalties will be enforced.” Appointments are required for in-person visits to renew driver’s licenses, state identification cards, or learner’s permits.
