Residents encouraged to use self-service DMV kiosk in Princeville
PRINCEVILLE – County officials are reminding residents to take advantage of the self-service
DMV kiosk recently installed at Foodland in Princeville, in partnership with Foodland and Intellectual
Technology Inc. (ITI).
“Instead of sitting in traffic or waiting in long lines at the DMV, why not renew your vehicle
registration at a DMV kiosk closest to you,” said Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami. “We have four kiosks on
every side of the island, where you can complete quick and easy transactions at your convenience.”
The other three DMV kiosks are located at Safeway in Kapa‘a and Līhu‘e, and Ishihara Market in
Waimea.
“Since its launch in April, there hasn’t been as many people utilizing our Princeville DMV kiosk
compared to the others across the island,” said Finance Director Reiko Matsuyama. “We want to remind
all residents, especially our North Shore community, of this great service that offers a fast and easy way
to renew your vehicle registration, saving you time and effort.”
The county’s self-service DMV kiosk allows customers to pay for their motor vehicle
registrations via a touchscreen by entering their license plate number or scanning the bar code of their
motor vehicle renewal form. Vehicles must have valid safety checks to use the kiosk.
Customers may only use debit or credit cards for transactions and will incur a $3 service fee as
well as a 2.5% debit and credit card fee. Once a transaction is made, the kiosk will print out the vehicle
registration and license plate tabs instantly.
