Lane closures for multiple sections of Kōloa Road and Maluhia Road scheduled Aug. 16
to Aug. 19
KŌLOA – The Department of Public Works and Goodfellow Bros. LLC. are announcing that
multiple sections of Kōloa Road and Maluhia Road will be under short lane closures for guardrail work
and shoulder work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., from Aug. 16 to Aug. 19; expect occasional brief delays.
Aug. 20 is Statehood Day, and there will be no work in observance of the holiday. From Aug. 15
to Aug. 21, a 24-hour closure will be implemented to complete the makai half of the new Kōloa Road
Roundabout. All eastbound traffic heading into Kōloa Town that is seeking to go south on Ala
Kalanikaumaka Road will be detoured to Po‘ipū Road. Ala Kalanikaumaka will be closed to southbound
Traffic from Koloa Road to Lopaka Paipa Boulevard. The Kōloa Road Roundabout will now be opened to
westbound and eastbound traffic, and Ala Kalanikaumaka will be reopened to northbound traffic.
As a reminder, large trucks and trailers and eastbound motorists from the West Side, Kalāheo,
or Lāwa‘i are recommended to take Kaumuali‘i Highway to Maluhia Road to access Kōloa and Po‘ipū.
Ōma‘o Road is a narrow residential road that is not intended as a detour route and is not designed for
high volumes of traffic or truck traffic. The speed limit is 25 mph for the entire length of Ōma‘o Road.
Through trucks are prohibited on Ōma‘o Road for the duration of this project.
Construction of the Kōloa Road roundabout is currently projected to be substantially complete
by Aug. 31. The current projected project's final completion date is Oct. 13. Dates and times are subject
to change depending on weather and other factors. If you have any questions or concerns, please
contact Tristan Gonzales at 808-462-8057 or Ryan Moura at 808-298-2431.
