PO‘IPŪ – On Saturday morning, first responders rescued two female visitors from California
from waters off Lāwa‘i Beach in Po‘ipū.
While on routine patrol of the area, Ocean Safety Bureau personnel with the South Roving Ski
Patrol spotted two swimmers in distress about 200 yards offshore, fronting Lāwa‘i Beach.
Shortly before 9:30 a.m., fire firefighters with the Kōloa fire station received a report of OSB
personnel assisting the two swimmers and responded to the incident.
Firefighters arrived shortly after, assisted OSB personnel, and brought the two swimmers to
shore on rescue boards.
Both swimmers were responsive and did not require medical attention.
The scene was cleared at approximately 9:50 a.m.
