BLANE, CHIEF OF STAFF (808) 241-4900 DOH Kaua‘i District Health Office to discontinue formal isolation letters LĪHUʻE – The Kaua‘i District Health Office announced that they will no longer issue formal release letters to individuals who have been subject to DOH-directed isolation or quarantine. The office will continue to provide instructions by email. Some employers ask employees to provide these letters as proof that they need to stay home from work. The health office would like to inform employers that COVID-positive cases and their close contacts will continue to receive emails from the health office with instructions on their isolation or quarantine, as well as their effective release date. Employees can share these email instructions with their employers as needed. The Department of Health’s return to work guidance is posted here: https://health.hawaii.gov/coronavirusdisease2019/files/2021/10/COVID-19-Return-to-Work- Guidance.pdf The Kaua‘i District Health Office is focusing its limited resources on case investigation, contact tracing, and monitoring, and thanks the public for their understanding. The Department of Health offices on the other islands discontinued these formal release letters several months ago. ###
