DOH Kaua‘i District Health Office to discontinue formal isolation letters
LĪHUʻE – The Kaua‘i District Health Office announced that they will no longer issue formal
release letters to individuals who have been subject to DOH-directed isolation or quarantine. The office
will continue to provide instructions by email.
Some employers ask employees to provide these letters as proof that they need to stay home
from work. The health office would like to inform employers that COVID-positive cases and their close
contacts will continue to receive emails from the health office with instructions on their isolation or
quarantine, as well as their effective release date. Employees can share these email instructions with
their employers as needed.
The Department of Health’s return to work guidance is posted here:

Guidance.pdf
The Kaua‘i District Health Office is focusing its limited resources on case investigation, contact
tracing, and monitoring, and thanks the public for their understanding. The Department of Health offices
on the other islands discontinued these formal release letters several months ago.
