SATO, Deputy County Clerk: We received written testimony, twenty-six (26) in support of the Bill and thirty-five (35) opposed. We have one (1) registered speaker. The first speaker is Matt Bernabe. Council Chair Rapozo: Mr. Bernabe, you may come up. PUBLIC HEARING 3 JANUARY 12, 2017 BILL NO. 2643 MATT BERNABE: Good afternoon. Matt Bernabe for the record. I am actually in support of doing the due process of repealing it, but with that said, I would like, as a citizen, to request you all to make a resolution or something to the State, asking them that the County wants to move and they have some disclosure laws and some protection, because although I am not polarized on either side of the issue, there are some common sense things that should take place. With that said, I understand the matrix of how it played out and at this point it is the only real thing to do, to clear the books of it. Like I said, I would like to see on the docket, on the agenda, maybe a resolution like how we did for Citizens United. I would love to see a 7:0 in support for a healthier and safer Kauai. That does not necessarily mean that that industry is unsafe and unhealthy, but as we see in O`ahu right now, the power plant has the dust being blown around. If the ash of that thing is a concern, dust blowing around, rather it has genetically modified pesticide seeds...or I do not even know all of the science, but I would like to see us as an unanimous body to say, "Let us get some common sense measures in here that can at least satisfy the half of the public that is concerned about it, and at the same time, meet a consensus so that we can move forward. It has divided our community that much and I think we need a healing process like that. Thank you very much. Council Chair Rapozo: Thank you. Anyone else wishing to testify? Seeing none, this public hearing is now adjourned. There being no further testimony, the public hearing adjourned at 1:36 p.m. Respectfully submitted, QtAll(9 )\-- SCOTT K. SATO Deputy County Clerk :cy
