First responders locate missing diver off Poipu waters Tuesday
POIPU – First responders located a missing diver in waters off Poipu near the dive spot known as
Koloa Landing on Tuesday morning.
No injuries were reported.
First responders were dispatched to a report of a missing diver on Tuesday at approximately
10:25 a.m.
Personnel from the Koloa fire station, Ocean Safety Bureau South Roving Ski Patrol, and
American Medical Response responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, first responders arrived on the scene shortly after. They were
briefed from a dive group that a scuba diver was missing from their group for about 20 minutes before
they arrived.
Soon after, OSB South Roving Ski Patrol personnel located the missing diver on the surface of
the water. According to preliminary reports, the diver lost contact with the dive group after
encountering poor water visibility.
AMR personnel checked on the patient, who declined medical attention.
First responders cleared the scene at approximately 10:50 a.m.
