DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: February 16, 2022 COUNTY OF KAUA‘I DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TROY TANIGAWA, ACTING COUNTY ENGINEER (808) 241-4993 Lane closures on ‘Akuli Street and Hanamāʻulu Road near King Kaumuali’i Elementary School scheduled from Feb. 22 to March 4 HANAMĀʻULU – The Department of Public Works and Goodfellow Bros. LLC., are announcing that sections of ‘Akuli Street and Hanamāʻulu Road will be under short lane closures on weekdays from Feb. 22 to March 4, weather permitting. Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, with no road work occurring during the peak traffic times for school drop-off and pick up. The lane closures are necessary for improvements to pedestrian access to the school including new sidewalks, crosswalks, and ADA ramps. Safe walking routes for students, parents, and pedestrians will be provided and are shown in the attached figure below. Motorists will expect occasional brief delays. As a reminder, the speed limit is 15 mph near King Kaumualii Elementary school while school is in session. This project is scheduled to reach final completion in June 2022.
