Lane closures on ‘Akuli Street and Hanamāʻulu Road near King Kaumuali’i Elementary
School scheduled from Feb. 22 to March 4
HANAMĀʻULU – The Department of Public Works and Goodfellow Bros. LLC., are announcing
that sections of ‘Akuli Street and Hanamāʻulu Road will be under short lane closures on weekdays from
Feb. 22 to March 4, weather permitting.
Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, with no road work occurring during the peak traffic
times for school drop-off and pick up.
The lane closures are necessary for improvements to pedestrian access to the school including
new sidewalks, crosswalks, and ADA ramps. Safe walking routes for students, parents, and pedestrians
will be provided and are shown in the attached figure below.
Motorists will expect occasional brief delays.
As a reminder, the speed limit is 15 mph near King Kaumualii Elementary school while school is
in session. This project is scheduled to reach final completion in June 2022. Dates and times are subject
to change depending on weather and other factors. If you have any questions or concerns, please
