BLANE, CHIEF OF STAFF (808) 241-4900 Mayor Kawakami signs first supplementary emergency proclamation for Waimea rockslide Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami has signed the first supplementary emergency proclamation on March 4, 2022, for the County of Kaua‘i as a result of a rockslide that occurred in Waimea on Menehune Road on Jan. 4, 2022. The disaster emergency relief period shall now continue until terminated 60 days after March 4, 2022, or by a separate proclamation – whichever comes first. The purpose of the emergency proclamation is to provide continued relief for disaster damages, losses, and suffering, and to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Kaua‘i residents and visitors.
