First responders, bystanders rescue swimmer from waters off Keālia on Thursday
KEĀLIA – First responders and bystanders rescued a 30-year-old female from waters off Keālia
Beach on Thursday afternoon.
Shortly before 4:15 p.m., first responders responded to an EMS call involving a water rescue.
According to a preliminary report, firefighters with the Kaiākea fire station arrived on the scene
and discovered two Ocean Safety Bureau lifeguards and an off-duty firefighter performing CPR on the
snorkeler. Earlier, bystanders pulled her from the water when she appeared unresponsive.
AMR medics continued advanced life support while transporting the woman to Wilcox Medical
Center for further treatment. She is currently in critical condition.
The scene was cleared shortly after 4:20 p.m.
