Hawai‘i State DOH Kaua‘i District Health Office announces 197 new cases of COVID-19
on Jan. 12
LĪHU‘E – The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office announced 197
new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, Jan. 12.
Today’s cases bring the number of active cases to 952, with seven hospitalized, and 6,216
cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 6,138 confirmed locally, eight probable, and
70 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on
island.

DOH case investigation and contact tracing:
Due to the high volume of cases, it may take the Department of Health case investigators a few
days to contact you after you’ve received a positive test.
If you test positive for COVID-19, isolate yourself at home immediately and notify your close
contacts. If you are a close contact, quarantine yourself at home and get tested. For more information

Vaccine and Testing:
Free vaccination is offered islandwide. Vaccinations are available to anyone 5 years of age or

Free testing is also available islandwide. For a full list of testing sites and more details,
visit www.kauai.gov/covidtest. Please note that that the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall testing
center is limited to 500 tests per day, and the free mobile testing van is limited to 100 tests per day.
