Three rescued on Kalalau Trail Sunday
KALALAU – First responders rescued three hikers from the Kalalau Trail on Sunday.
Personnel with Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 responded to the incident.
According to preliminary reports, shortly before 3:20 p.m. on Sunday, first responders were
dispatched to a report of distressed hikers on the Kalalau Trail.
At approximately 4 p.m., Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 arrived on the scene and found three hikers
unable to pass a section of Kalalau Trail near mile-marker 8 due to washed-out trail conditions.
First responders extracted the three hikers and transported them to a landing zone at
Hanakāpī‘ai Beach, where they continued hiking out of the trail.
The scene was cleared at approximately 5:40 p.m.
