Hiker rescued from Kalalau Trail Thursday
KALALAU – On Thursday, first responders rescued a 32-year-old California visitor from the
Kalalau Trail.
Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel with the Hanalei fire station, Rescue 3 aboard Air 1, and
American Medical Response responded to the incident.
According to preliminary reports, at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday, first responders were
dispatched to a report of an injured hiker on the Kalalau Trail.
At approximately 3:50 p.m., Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 arrived on the scene at a landing zone on
Kalalau Beach and discovered the hiker with an injured knee.
First responders loaded the California visitor into Air 1 and transported him to Princeville Airport
to awaiting AMR personnel. The hiker declined medical treatment and was released on scene.
The scene was cleared shortly before 6 p.m.
