Registration starts May 1 for Keiki and Junior Lifeguard programs
LĪHU'E – Ocean Safety Bureau officials announce that online registration for the 2023 Keiki and
Junior Lifeguard programs will begin on May 1 at 7:45 a.m. on the County’s website
www.kauai.gov/JuniorLifeguardPrograms. Enrollment is limited.
The no-cost program will offer ocean safety awareness and lifesaving skills instruction.
The Keiki Lifeguard Program is available to children ages 8 to 11 who can swim and run 50 yards
nonstop.
The Junior Lifeguard Program is open to youth ages 12 to 17 who can swim and run 100 yards
nonstop.
The free program runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates:
• June 12 to 16, at Salt Pond Beach
• June 19 to 23, at Kalapakī Beach
• June 26 to June 30, at Hanalei Pavillion
• July 10 to 14, Wanini Beach
• July 17 to 21, at Kalapakī Beach
The State championship is scheduled to be held at Waikīkī on Aug. 19, 2023.
Proof of birth certificate is required for each participant.
Participants will need to bring their lunch, sunscreen, and a towel to the training daily.
Program sponsors include the County of Kaua‘i, Kaua‘i Lifeguard Association, Hawaiian Lifeguard
Association, and many generous businesses and individuals.
