DAHILIG, MANAGING DIRECTOR News Release For Immediate Release: April 26, 2023 COUNTY OF KAUA‘I DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TROY TANIGAWA, COUNTY ENGINEER (808) 241-4993 Public invited to design-concept review meeting for Kawaihau Road Improvements Project on May 9 KAPA‘A – The Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold a public meeting on May 9 to review the developing design concepts for the Kawaihau Road Improvements Project. The meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the St. Catherine’s Coyle Hall located at 5021A Kawaihau Road, in Kapa‘a. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. During the meeting, the Department of Public Works and its consultant will recap the input received from the public during the Walk Audit and Visioning and Design Workshop held in March. Presenters will show a design concept for possible roadway improvements along the Kawaihau Road corridor, between Hau‘a‘ala Road and Ka‘apuni Road in Kapahi. The public is invited to consider the developing design concept and make additional comments at the meeting.+ As a reflection of the concerns and desires of the community, the Kawaihau Road Improvements Project seeks to include the following scope of work: • Implement pedestrian and bicycle transportation improvements along Kawaihau Road; • Provide additional signage and traffic calming measures along Kawaihau Road; • Reconfigure the intersection at Kawaihau Road and Kapahi Road; and • Reconfigure the intersection at Kawaihau and Ka‘apuni roads. All interested community members are encouraged to attend the event. The project limits are shown on the map below.
