Man airlifted from Kalepa Ridge trail on Tuesday
LĪHU‘E – Firefighters responded to a man in distress Tuesday afternoon along the Kalepa Ridge
trail in Līhu‘e.
At approximately 4:50 p.m., first responders were notified of a 24-year-old male resident who
was having difficulty breathing along the Kalepa Ridge trail.
Rescue 3 personnel were dispatched to the scene. Soon after their arrival, they discovered the
man had lost consciousness and was in severe distress. Rescuers quickly airlifted the man to a landing
zone at Nukoli‘i Beach near Kaua‘i Beach Resort, where awaiting Kapa‘a firefighters and AMR medics
provided additional support.
AMR medics provided advanced life support while transporting the man to Wilcox Medical
Center. The man was later medevacked to O‘ahu where he currently remains in critical condition.
