HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/31/2023 Public hearing minutes on BILL 2898 PUBLIC HEARING MAY 31, 2023 A public hearing of the Council of the County of Kaua`i was called to order by Felicia Cowden, Chair, Public Safety and Human Services Committee, on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., at the Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Suite 201, Historic County Building, Lihu`e, and the presence of the following was noted: Honorable Bernard P. Carvalho, Jr. Honorable Felicia Cowden Honorable Bill DeCosta Honorable Ross Kagawa Honorable KipuKai Kuali`i Honorable Mel Rapozo Excused: Honorable Addison Bulosan The Clerk read the notice of the public hearing on the following: "Bill No. 2898 — A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 22, ARTICLE 15, KAUAI COUNTY CODE 1987, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO GENERAL PROVISIONS RELATING TO PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE (OBNOXIOUS SUBSTANCES)," which was passed on first reading and ordered to print by the Council of the County of Kaua`i on April 26, 2023, and published in The Garden Island newspaper on May 8, 2023. Committee Chair Cowden: Thank you. Is there any member of the public signed up to testify? JADE K. FOUNTAIN-TANIGAWA, County Clerk: We have no registered speakers. Committee Chair Cowden: Would anyone like to testify? Alice? ALICE PARKER: Alice Parker, for the record. Actually, not as far as obnoxious substances, but I want to thank the staff publicly for their attention to public safety and making sure our sidewalks are safe coming in because there were a couple of big cracks, and gaps, and uneven surfaces. Thank you, thank you. Committee Chair Cowden: Thank you. Is there anyone else wishing to testify? With that, this public hearing is now adjourned.
