HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/24/2024 Parks & Recreation/Transportation Committee minutes MINUTES PARKS & RECREATION / TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE January 24, 2024 A meeting of the Parks & Recreation / Transportation Committee of the Council of the County of Kaua`i, State of Hawai`i, was called to order by Addison Bulosan, Chair, at the Council Chambers, 4396 Rice Street, Suite 201, Lihu`e, Kaua`i, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 8:58 a.m., after which the following Members answered the call of the roll: Honorable Felicia Cowden Honorable Bill DeCosta Honorable Ross Kagawa Honorable KipuKai Kuali`i Honorable Addison Bulosan Honorable Bernard P. Carvalho, Jr., Ex-Officio Member Honorable Mel Rapozo, Ex-Officio Member (present at 9:19 a.m.) There being no objections, the Committee recessed at 8:58 a.m., to convene in the Public Safety & Human Services Committee. The Committee reconvened at 9:05 a.m. and proceeded on its agenda item, as shown in the following Committee Report, which is incorporated herein by reference: CR-PRT 2024-01: on PRT 2024-01 Communication (11/27/2023) from Councilmember Kagawa, requesting the presence of the Director of Parks &Recreation and Jeremiah G. Aguilera, Kaua`i District Manager, State of Hawai`i Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation, to provide a briefing regarding small boat harbors and boat ramps, including but not limited to rules and enforcement, including maximum time allowed per boat for launching and returns, and whether a limit should be placed on the number of Na Pali sightseeing tours to prevent environmental damage and manage tourism impacts.
