RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING INSTALLATION OF SPEED TABLES ON
HAUIKI ROAD, KAWAIHAU DISTRICT, COUNTY OF KAUXI
WHEREAS, Chapter 16, Article 2 of the Kauai County Code 1987, as
amended, authorizes the County Council to create, define, re -define, eliminate, or
change all traffic calming measures; and
WHEREAS, Hauiki Road is located in the Kawaihau District, County of
Kauai, State of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 16, Article 22, Section 7, Kaua`i County
Code 1987, as amended, relating to the installation of traffic calming measures on
County streets, the Department of Public Works may seek approval from the County
Cou ncil via resolution for installation of traffic calming measures on streets; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works, based on an engineering study
as outlined in Chapter 16, Article 22, Sections 4 and 5, Kaua`i County Code 1987, as
amended, has recommended the installation of four (4) speed tables on Hauiki Road;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has completed public notification
for traffic calming measures on Hauiki Road, as required by Chapter 16, Article 22,
Section 4, Kaua`i County Code 1987, as amended; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF KAUA`I,
STATE OF HAWAI`I THAT:
SECTION 1. The Department of Public Works is authorized to install
four (4) speed tables as shown on Exhibit "A," attached hereto and incorporated
herein by reference, at the following locations:
• On Hauiki Road approximately 720 feet west from its centerline
intersection with Kulana Place.
• On Hauiki Road approximately 1390 feet east from its centerline
intersection with Kini Place.
• On Hauiki Road approximately 590 feet east from its centerline
intersection with Kini Place.
• On Hauiki Road approximately 90 feet west of its centerline
intersection with Kini Place.
SECTION 2. This resolution shall take effect upon its approval and the
installation of the speed tables.
