C 2006-246 Communication (06/26/2006) from the County Engineer, requesting
Council approval of a $80,000 grant to Leadership Iiaua'i, a
non-profit entity and sponsoring agency for this community build
project, to purchase chainlink fence materials for Iiapa'a New Park,
and to fully indemnify Leadership Iiaua'i, including its agents and
assigns, during the construction and installation of the chainlink
fencing by the community organizations and volunteers. (Defer~r~ed

transmitting for Council consideration, a bill which prohibits horses
and other equines from the bike and pedestrian paths. (See

extending the substantial construction requirement from five (5) to

Superintendent, Department of Public Works, requesting Council
approval to purchase a new heavy-duty tire changing machine that
will cost approximately $20,000.00, replacing one that is inoperable,
28 years old, and obsolete, and which funds are budgeted in the
equipment repair and maintenance account.
C 2006-269 Communication (07/25/2006) from the County Engineer, requesting
Council approval to purchase an unbudgeted Wacker BH 23
Breaker/Driver for approximately $4,955.18, to replace the existing
Pionjar 120 Drill/Breaker that is 11 years old, inoperable, and not
feasible to repair, and which moneys are available in the other
supplies account.

Department of Public Works, requesting (~'ouncil approval to
purchase two (2) OdaLog hydrogen sulfide gas monitors with
accessories for approximately $3,602.48 (shipping included) from
the other supplies account, that will be installed at various
locations in our wastewater collection system to monitor the levels
of hydrogen sulfide.

C 2006-271 Communication (07/13/2006) from the Anti-Drug Coordinator,
requesting Council approval of a $50,000 donation from
Mr. Jeff Linder, that will be used towards the Residential
Adolescent Treatment Facility construction project.
C 2006-272 Communication (07/13/2006) from the Anti-Drug Coordinator,
requesting that the Council approve the receipt and expenditure of
$50,000 donated by Mr. and Mrs. Tom (~'rawford for the Residential
Adolescent Treatment Facility construction project, to be
transferred from the Iiaua`i Rural Health Association, a not for
profit agency to the (~'ounty of Iiaua`i.

$200,000 from the Enhanced 911 Wireless Fund for the Iiaua`i

Defense Agency, requesting Council approval to apply for, accept,
and expend up to $15,000 of the United States Department of
Transportation Hazardous Materials Emergency Planning (HMEP)
grant funds, which will be used towards hiring a consultant to
conduct an assessment of hazardous materials storage facilities and
its effect on Coratirauity of Oper~atioru (COOP) in the event of a
hazardous materials release.
