C 'Z005-95 Communication (01/ 19/'Z005) from Dennis S. Furushima, former Fire Chief, requesting Council approval to accept a donation of a streaming video media system (valued at approximately $81,30'Z.00) from Maui Community College, which is in addition to the equipment initially approved on December 16, 'Z004 for $3,390.00, which would enable the Fire Department to create and transmit video training to all fire stations from a central location. C 'Z005-96 Communication (01/'Z6/'Z005) from the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall Manager and Ho`olokahi Coordinator, requesting Council approval of a $15,000 grant to the Good Beginnings Alliance to purchase playground equipment for Hanapepe Heights Park and Cliffside Park. Council Meeting Agenda Z February 'Z4, 'Z005 C'Z005-97 Communication (0'Z/O1/'Z005) from the Director, Office of Economic Development, requesting Council approval to accept a donation of six (6) new computers, with an estimated value of $11,653, from the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) to the County Workforce Investment Act prograni, that will be used in the About Face Out-of-School prograni. C'Z005-98 Communication (0'Z/0'Z/'Z005) from the Mayor, requesting Council approval to expend $'Z00,000, State Grant-in-Aid funds (Act 40) to do drug prevention education activities. C 'Z005-99 Communication (0'Z/09/'Z005) from the Prosecuting Attorney, requesting Council approval to receive and expend federal funds in the amount of $185,051 for the Iaua`i VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) Expansion Project 03-VA-3 (VOCA04), commencing on October 1, 'Z003 through September 30, 'Z006. C'Z005-100 Communication (0'Z/09/'Z005) from the Prosecuting Attorney, requesting Council approval to receive and expend additional federal fiords in the amotmt of $59,547 for the Iaua`i VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) Expansion Project 0'Z-VA-3 (VOCA03) (Supplemental No. 'Z), commencing on October 1, 'Z00'Z through September 30, 'Z005. CLAIMS: C'Z005-101 Communication (0'Z/04/'Z005) from the County Clerk, transmitting a claim filed against the County of Iaua`i by Valentina Bautista, for daniage to her vehicle, pursuant to Section 'Z3.06, Charter of the Cotmty of Iaua`i. C'Z005-10'Z Communication (0'Z/08/'Z005) from the Cotmty Clerk, transmitting a claim filed against the County of Kauai by Sarah Michele Rose Sylvester, for damage to her vehicle, pursuant to Section 'Z3.06, Charter of the County of Kauai. Council Meeting Agenda 3 February 'Z4, Z005 CZ005-103 Communication (0'Z/10/Z005) from the County Clerk, transmitting a claim filed against the County of Kauai by Vincent Parbo, for personal property damages, pursuant to Section 23.06, Charter of the County of Kauai. CZ005-104 Communication (0'Z/10/Z005) from the County Clerk, transmitting a claim filed against the Cotmty of Iaua`i by Fred McGaiy, for damage to his vehicle, pursuant to Section 23.06, Charter of the County of Iaua`i. COMMITTEE REPORTS: ENERGY & PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE REPORT: CR-EPS 2005-2: on EPS 2005-'Z Communication (1/'Z4/Z005) from Mel Rapozo, Energy & Public Safety Committee Chair, requesting Iaua`i Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) to be present at the February 17, 2005 Committee Meeting to give a quarterly update. [Received for the record.] EXECUTIVE SESSION: Pursuant to Haw. Rev. Stat. ("H.R.S.") ~9Z-7(a), the Council may, when deemed necessary, hold an executive session on any agenda item without written public notice if the executive session was not anticipated in advance. Any such executive session shall be held pursuant to H.R.S. ~9Z-4 and shall be limited to those items described in H.R.S. ~9Z-5(a). Stat. ~~9Z-4 and 9Z-5(a)(4), the purpose of this executive session is to discuss the status of County of Iaua`i Contract No. 6644 (Island Recycling, Inc.). This consultation involves consideration of the powers, duties, privileges, immunities, and/or liabilities of the Council and the Cotmty as they relate to this agenda item.
